AB1846 , the bill that would increase funding for Adult Education by 250 million, will go to the Assembly Education Committee this Wednesday, April 20 at 1:30 in room 5160 .   If the bill becomes law, funding for Adult Education would increase to 750 million, which is more or less what it was prior to all the cuts. Attending the meeting and speaking in the public comment section at the end has an impact.  Particularly important are student voices.  Their experience and perspective matters very much. If you make the trip to Sacramento, make a day of it and visit other legislators while you are there.  You do not need to make an appointment - although making an appointment has merit.  Drop by the office of the legislators who represent you.  Speak to an aide if the Legislator is not there.  Express your support of AB1846 and explain why it's needed. Assembly Bill 1846 (Lopez) passed through the Assembly's Higher Ed Committee yesterday with a unanimous YES vote (12-0). It will move to the Assembly's Education Committee next week, followed by the Appropriations Committee. After 1846 is passed by the Assembly, it moves to the Senate for passage, then back to the Assembly before landing on Governor Brown's desk.
